The first step is to examine your housing requirements and the simplest way to that is to start making a list.  Begin by making a list of the likes and dislikes of your current home.  This will help you identify those features that you are unwilling to change and those that must be changed.  From this list you can determine the features that you feel are an essential element of your dream home.

Next, make a list of the features that you desire to have in a home.  Don’t waste time on reality here but keep in mind that this is a list of what you desire and not a list of what you know you cannot have.  Let your imagination run wild and visualize those things that would be part of your dream home.  From this list you should be able to determine what features you would like to have in a home if price was not an issue.
